Caring for Houseplants and Clippings Swap

Tuesday January 7th 6PM | Moultonborough Public Library (NH) and The Boro's Floral Boutique | 4 Holland St, Moultonborough, NH

Join us for a special event on how to care for your houseplants!

Marianne from The Boro's Floral Boutique in Moultonborough will share the best size pots for certain plants, the different types of moss poles and other support for climbing plants, how much water to provide in the winter vs. in the summer, and identifying root rot and fungal infections in plants. There will be visuals of and best practices for using LECA, perlite, soil, orchid bark, lava rock, sphagnum moss, peat moss, zeolite, coco coir, and pumice.

At this event, the library will launch its houseplant clipping swap. If you have one to share, bring a clipping to swap! Marianne will share tips on propagating houseplants.

Immerse yourself into the winter season with the first annual Lights on Squam, a seasonal light installation at Wolfsburg Farm! Prepare to be dazzled by five unique lighting experiences, expertly curated by New Spectrum Lighting, designed to bring joy and awe to all ages. This is a self-guided tour down a wooded trail with gentle slopes on a wood chip path. Please wear appropriate outdoor attire and footwear to match the winter elements. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but must be leashed at all times and picked up after.

There will be a fire pit with light refreshments and warm beverages available for purchase.

**Please note this trail is not ADA accessible, and therefore not suitable for wheelchairs or walkers. Strollers are permitted, at your own risk. Children under the age of 3 are free. Please note: this is a winter trail in the woods. Seniors are welcome, but should strongly consider their walking capabilities down potentially icy and snow-covered terrain.

This is a glazing workshop we will not be hand building the pottery but glazing already made pieces with the peacock technique.

Elevate your winter outing by turning it into a day of exploration and enjoyment. Plan a hike, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing on the picturesque Lakes Region Conservation Trust trails, before or after heading over to the Carriage House Restaurant to enjoy the delights of Winter Lunch at the Castle.

Winter Lunch at the Castle is $35 per person (Adult) and $15 (12 & Under ordering from Children’s Menu) and includes your choice of starter, entrée, nonalcoholic beverage as well as tax and gratuity. Full bar and dessert options are available for purchase.

Castle in the Clouds requires online reservations to be made by midnight of the preceding Thursday. You’ll be presented with the current prix fixe menu upon arrival at the Carriage House Restaurant.

Introduction to Home Cheese Making Class

Saturday January 11th | 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM |Prescott Farm Environmental Education Center 928 White Oaks Road Laconia, NH 03246

This hands-on workshop will cover the basics of how to make simple, delicious cheese in your own kitchen. We will cover equipment, supplies, and basic techniques used to make most types of cheese. Each participant will take part in making a batch of fresh mozzarella, ricotta, and paneer which will be made from start to finish in the class. Participants will take home instructions and a set of ingredients (minus the milk) to make a batch or two at home.

Recommended Ages: Adults
Physical Demand [1] = Activity is indoors or outside with up to 1/10 of a mile walking; includes both sitting and standing
Cost: $35 (Non-Members); $20 for Members
